SUBJECT:                      Public Hearing Scheduled for December 9, 2025 to Consider Notice Of Intent To Use Uniform Method Of Collecting Non-Ad Valorem Assessments

__________________________________________________________________

BACKGROUND

In the next fiscal year, the Board of County Commissioners will impose special assessments to fund services, facilities, and programs for street lighting maintenance and improvements, roadway maintenance and improvements, stormwater maintenance and improvements, water and sewer maintenance and improvements, solid waste collection and disposal and other public services and facilities allowed by law.

To use the uniform method of collecting non-ad valorem assessments found in Florida Statute §197.3632, the Board is required to advertise notice of its intent for four consecutive weeks, conduct a public hearing, and adopt a resolution indicating its intent, stating the need for the levy, and describing the boundaries of the real property subject to the levy.

BUDGETARY IMPACT

There is no impact to County funds by this resolution.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

The County Attorney recommends that the Board conduct a public hearing on the proposed resolution, take comment from interested persons, and approve the attached resolution regarding the intent to use the uniform method for the levy and collection of special assessments.
