BACKGROUND
Over the years, residents in the northern area of Old Dixie Highway from Westport Drive to 131st Street have experienced yard flooding during substantial rainfall events due to the upwelling of groundwater originating from the Sandridge and a steady stream of stormwater free-flowing from the west to east streets west of Old Dixie Highway, which then collects and floods at the lowest points, including many residential properties east of Old Dixie Highway.
ANALYSIS
Work Order No. 01 to Schulke, Bittle & Stoddard, LLC in the amount of $111,600 is to provide surveying, geotech, engineering design, permitting, and construction phase services for drainage improvements to Old Dixie Highway from Westport Drive to 131st Street to prevent localized flooding in that area. The estimated construction cost of this project is $1,338,762.
BUDGETARY IMPACT
Funding for this project will be provided per the account detail below. In the event a line transfer cannot be transferred to cover this unanticipated expense, staff will return with a budget amendment to fund the project from Optional Sales Tax/Cash Forward-Oct 1st.

PREVIOUS BOARD ACTIONS
On May 2, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Continuing Contract Agreement for Consulting Engineering Services for Schulke, Bittle & Stoddard, L.L.C.
POTENTIAL FUTURE BOARD ACTIONS
Award bid for the construction of the drainage system for Old Dixie Highway when construction plans and permitting are complete. Budget amendment if needed.

Recommended Action
Staff recommends approval of Work Order No. 01 to Schulke, Bittle & Stoddard, LLC authorizing the professional services as outlined in the Scope of Services and requests the Board authorize the Chairman to execute Work Order No. 01 on their behalf in a not-to-exceed amount of $111,600.
